marty was pretty convinced of her assessment. but, she didn't know the whole story. when i say this girl might not have liked me, what i should have said is that this girl, for over one year, had showed an absolute and consistent indifference if not full distaste for me. certainly not the formula that precedes a public display of full-contact-body-whispering such as this. marty's theory just did not add up.
there is an additional detail i have not yet mentioned; this girl was my temporary superior. our official boss was away for a few weeks and she was tapped as the stand-in. |
