One pious facility which deserves more than a participation ribbon would be the little production called St. Peters basilica and Vatican City. If the pope digs it you know it's gotta be pretty sexy. Behind the great walls of Vatican city resides the most ambitious collection of human labors I've ever had the honor of seeing. There is not a square foot of this place that has gone untouched and the quantity of detail and craftsmanship is unrivaled. It's like the Smithsonian and then some.

From sculpture to painting to architecture, Vatican city signifies all that is great in human advancement or de-advancement if you compare it to today's artistic contributions. It is a sobering reminder of how storied the roman catholic church is and the great wealth it has possessed for at least a couple of years.

Also, if there is a place on earth that can claim more visitors than Vatican city, I've yet to hear or read about it. It's like a rolling stones ticket line every day and the organizers fortunately demonstrate comparable skills to the Disney folks. For this I thank them.
