in all my days i've never had a more subtle or gentle request for me to put on a pair of underwear. and i've been asked that more times than i'm willing to share with any of you.
surprisingly though, in my tired state i did have an answer for him. i told him the reason kids wear pajamas and parents don't (have to) is that moms and dads are better at not kicking all of the covers off in the middle of the night. many days it's a wonder alex is able to stay in his bed at all. i've found him, sideways, upside down, sometimes even with more of him off the bed than on. and this is the reason, i explained to him, that kids have to wear pajamas, which are really nothing more than sheets that have been hermetically zipped to their body so they don't freeze in the night.
