i had my wallet stolen out of my car a few years back while playing tennis. even with the money and inconvenience of it all, the only thing i truly hated losing was the first picture i ever had of marty. and even more than losing the picture (which i was able to get a replacement of) was losing the note that was written in her architect-grade penmanship on its back.

meanwhile in marty's wallet, she carried the dollar bill that was part of our dutch-splitting of our first bill from our first date. around the same time i lost my wallet and picture, something mysterious happened to the storied dollar bill that was folded in half twice and hidden in one of her billfold's back compartments.

we were of course able to get her another dollar but just as with my picture, it was just not the same.
