marty recently posed the dinner table question of what each person's proudest life moment was.
without much thought alex casually said his was saving anthony from a concussion. his comment brought life to the table as people lit up in their retellings. the moment alex referred to took place a few years ago. marty had taken the kids to an event at her school. there was a standing wooden structure (let's call it a stage prop) and it tipped over. anthony was fully in the falling structure's path. alex saw this and instinctively acted, catching it and trying to hold the structure up but its weight proved too much. even though he was unable to keep it upright, he did prevent it from fully flattening anthony in its fall while he called for help. in short order people rushed over and helped get things sorted out. observers of the incident surmised that if that object had fallen on anthony, without any interference, depending on how the small and breakable anthony was situated beneath the structure, the results could have been catastrophic. so in the end aleo probably did a whole lot more than save his brother from a concussion and that stands as a mighty fine pride-worthy moment in a then nine-year olds life.
