to say i like immediate gratification would be like saying i like to urinate just once a day. although, with me, it's not really about immediate gratification as much as it is about constant gratification. think intravenous drip.
while there are numerous personal benefits, societal downsides exist. i recently told a co-worker how i was considered a very high-maintenance employee. he asked how i came to know this. i explained i knew because my three previous managers had said to me, "troy, you are a very high-maintenance employee."
but i've long said, you get what you pay for and this is no exception. the rewards are proportional to your efforts. well, just as long as everything you ask me to do satisfies my need for continuous self-fulfillment. this is what some folks, folks like my past managers, call that vicious little circle of troy.
