SCENE |
bella and i are sitting in the lobby of an indian restaurant waiting for a take-out order. while we wait a man about thirty years old walks out from the kitchen and talks with the man, who he calls dad, standing at the register. after their short conversation and the younger guy returned to the kitchen, bella leaned into me and asked the following. |
|
BELLA
is that man that boy's father?
TROY
i guess so. he called him dad.
BELLA
hmmm.
TROY
when you get that big would you like us to open a restaurant so we can work together?
BELLA
yeah, sure.
(10 second pause)
BELLA
oh, but that won't work.
TROY
it won't? why not?
BELLA
because you'll be dead.

NOTE |
for reasons i haven't yet pinpointed bella considers marty to be quite youthful, a peer almost, and she views me as having about twelve minutes left to live. given the frequency of her premonitions regarding my longevity, i hope this is just a childish misperception on her part and not some form of insider data. |
