i was ninety seconds from leaving for work. i kissed (and got pushes from) the boys, marty and i exchanged pecks on the lips, the phone started ringing, i grabbed my bag from the office ignoring the phone (as i always do) and bounced down the steps. i stopped in the kitchen to get my drinks for the day. bella was sitting at the breakfast counter eating cereal. before i left she began the following conversation. |

TROY
who is not a boy?
BELLA
the person on the phone.
TROY
oh. ok.
BELLA
if it's ever a boy i'll listen to make sure they aren't dating.
TROY
make sure who isn't dating.
BELLA
mom.
TROY
oh. wow. thanks bell. that is a very nice thing to know you're watching for.
BELLA
i know. because it would be bad if mom started dating someone else.
TROY
i couldn't agree more isabella. i couldn't agree more.
