CHRIS
Hey, do you know what the current U.S. population is?
TROY
What?!? How the hell would I know?
CHRIS
You don't know that kind of stuff?
TROY
God no. Why don't you ask the boy genius?
CHRIS
Who's that?
TROY
John.
CHRIS
John's a genius?
TROY
Yeah. Haven't you ever talked to him.
CHRIS
Well, yeah, sure. (pauses for a moment watching John approach) I think I'll be the judge of that though.
(John arrives and sits down)
Hey John, Troy tells me you're a genius, is that so?
JOHN
(chuckles) Well, I don't know about genius, but I know some stuff.
CHRIS
Do you mind if I quiz you?
JOHN
No. Go ahead.
CHRIS
Ok...Let's see...What is the second largest country in terms of landmass?
JOHN
Canada.
CHRIS
What are the two most widely spoken languages?
JOHN
Chinese and Arabic.
CHRIS
All right. What is the capitol of Norway?
JOHN
Oslo.
CHRIS
How many planets are there in the solar system?
JOHN
Eight or nine depending on where you fall on the Pluto debate.
CHRIS
Ok. What's their order?
JOHN
Mars, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Although it kinda depends on when you ask since Pluto and Neptune alternate as the furthest planet based on their current orbit.
TROY
What are you kidding me? Who knows this kind of stuff. I mean how do you even come across it?
CHRIS
All right. A lot of poeple know geography and planet stuff. How about some science questions. Let's see.
(chris thinks awhile rubbing chin while John calmly eats his sandwich)
Ok, what are the names of the three little bones inside the ear?
JOHN
(thinks for awhile on this one)
I believe they are the anvil, stirrup and hammer.
CHRIS
What is the liquid inside the eyeball called?
JOHN
Vitrious humor.
TROY
I actually knew that one.
CHRIS
How many elements are there in the periodic table?
JOHN
Before last Thursday, there were 112 but they recently announced two new ones, Ununquadium and Ununtrium so there are now 114.
CHRIS
Uuuuhhhh! I give up! You are a genius!!!
TROY
A boy-genius.
